Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
An oil trader was shot and mugged in the Maiterhat area under Magrahath Block-2 last night, police said today. As per sources, Ashok Satui (47) encountered the robber at night. He was carrying 7 lakhs cash in a bag which the perpetrator tried to snatch.
Ashok pushed him following which the culprit took out his firearm and shot Ashok in his hand. After suffering the gun injury, Ashok fell on the road and became unconscious. The accused got the cash-filled bag and fled from the scene.
Reports said that a person, identified as Sukhdev Bairagi, found Ashok lying on the road and took him to a local clinic. Police were informed about the incident following which a team arrived at the spot and started an investigation. They also took the statement of Ashok.
